Enugu Governor rewards league-winning Rangers with land and N150 million

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has celebrated the Rangers International Football Club's victory in the 2025/2026 NPFL title by awarding the team plots of land and N150 million. The governor announced the rewards during a reception held in honor of the players, technical crew, and management at the Government House in Enugu.

Rangers FC clinched their ninth NPFL title, a record-equaling achievement, following a 2-1 victory over Ikorodu City FC on May 24, 2026. This marks the second league title for the club in three years under Governor Mbah's administration. The governor expressed the state's delight in celebrating the team's success, likening the reception to honoring a child who has excelled academically.

We are providing you with a cash gift of N100million for the players and N50 million for the technical and management crew. In addition to that, we have approved a plot of land in Enugu for every player, while additional plots will be allocated to the General Manager, Head Coach, Secretary and Assistant Coach.

The financial rewards include N100 million for the players and N50 million for the technical and management staff. In addition, each player will receive a plot of land in Enugu, with further allocations designated for the General Manager, Head Coach, Secretary, and Assistant Coach. Governor Mbah emphasized the club's significance beyond football, describing them as a symbol of resilience, unity, and hope, with a rich history dating back to the Nigerian Civil War.

Governor Mbah commended the team for their hard work, sacrifices, and discipline throughout the season, acknowledging their determination in securing the trophy. He also praised the leadership of General Manager Amobi Ezeaku. Assuring continued government support for sports, Mbah highlighted that the renovation of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium would be completed to international standards for the team's continental matches. He also announced that Enugu State would host the 2026 National Sports Festival. The governor concluded by urging the team to remain focused and strive to win a continental trophy, warning against complacency.
