EOCO arrests Dennis Miracles Aboagye over GH¢55M IMCCoD probe

Ghana's Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has apprehended Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralization (IMCCoD). The arrest is connected to an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities amounting to GH¢55 million within the IMCCoD Secretariat.

According to EOCO, Aboagye, also known as “Miracles,” was taken into custody early Sunday morning at the Kotoka International Airport. The agency is probing financial improprieties that have surfaced concerning the committee's operations during Aboagye's tenure.

The IMCCoD plays a crucial role in coordinating decentralization efforts across various ministries in Ghana. Allegations of financial mismanagement at such a significant governmental body have raised concerns about accountability and the proper use of public funds.

EOCO's action signals a continued effort by Ghanaian authorities to investigate and address corruption and financial malfeasance within public institutions.
