EPL Round-up: Iwobi reaches rare milestone as Haaland sends Man City top

Alex Iwobi reached a rare Premier League landmark on Saturday, but Fulham’s latest defeat ensured the achievement passed under a cloud. The Nigeria international became only the fifth player in the competition’s history to make 100 appearances for three different clubs.

Iwobi reached the mark after starting Fulham’s 3-2 home defeat to Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage. He had previously made 100 appearances for Arsenal and 123 for Everton. His name now joins Gareth Barry, Rory Delap, Gary Speed and James Milner in the exclusive group.

Fulham led twice through Josh King and Cesar Palacios, but Tyrick Mitchell scored twice for Palace before former Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell completed the comeback in the 77th minute. Iwobi left the field with seven minutes remaining, while fellow Nigerian Calvin Bassey played the full match. The result left Fulham 19th after losing their opening three league games under new manager Alvaro Arbeloa.

At the Etihad Stadium, Haaland’s 26th-minute header gave Manchester City a 1-0 win over Coventry City. It was his third goal of the season and preserved City’s perfect record after three matches. Coventry, who started with Nigeria internationals Taiwo Awoniyi and Frank Onyeka, remain bottom after three defeats since returning to the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest and Tottenham played out a goalless draw, with Ola Aina appearing for Forest. VAR disallowed a Neco Williams goal for handball, while the point was Tottenham’s first of the season. Newcastle also fought back from two goals down against Bournemouth, drawing 2-2 after Harvey Barnes and Jacob Ramsey scored. Brighton drew 1-1 with Leeds, and Brentford shared the same score with Sunderland. Arsenal are due to face Chelsea on Sunday.
