Erdoğan announces legal regulation for 'terror-free Turkey' to be submitted to parliament

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has declared Turkey's commitment to establishing a "terror-free Turkey," announcing that a relevant legal regulation will be presented to parliament in the coming days. Speaking after a cabinet meeting, Erdoğan framed this initiative within a broader context of national progress and resilience, contrasting it with political debates he described as mere "figurine" distractions.

Erdoğan emphasized that while opponents debate who is a "figurine," a "traitor," or a "collaborator," his administration is focused on uniting the country and positioning Turkey as a key player in global politics. He credited the "profound insight" of the Turkish people during the May 14-28 elections for helping the nation avert a significant crisis. He asserted that Turkey's journey toward its bright future, guided by experienced, compatible, competent, and resilient cadres, continues without slowing down.

A significant portion of Erdoğan's address focused on the economic impact of terrorism. He revealed striking figures from a recent study by the ruling AK Party's economy department, indicating that terrorism has cost the Turkish economy $511 billion in gross domestic product (GDP), $5,800 per capita in lost income, and $110 billion in exports. The loss of employment due to terrorism is estimated at 2.5 million jobs. Erdoğan noted that these losses also create a dual pressure on public finances.

"The solution will benefit all of Turkey, its 86 million individuals, its nation, its homeland," Erdoğan stated, projecting that removing the obstacle of terrorism will unlock new economic potential. He assured that all segments of society, workers, farmers, tourism professionals, investors, exporters, housewives, and retirees, as well as all ethnic groups including Kurds, Arabs, and Laz, stand to gain. He concluded by stressing that as long as political confidence and governance stability persist, "every problem will be solved, every difficulty will be overcome, and every obstacle will be surmounted."
