Erdogan: "History is being rewritten in our region"

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared that "history is being rewritten" in the region during a speech commemorating the anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert. Speaking at an event attended by his nationalist ally Devlet Bahçeli, Erdogan asserted that Turkey now plays a decisive role in regional developments and that the country's progress cannot be halted.

The president invoked an old military tradition of tying a horse's tail before battle to symbolize Turkey's unwavering determination to achieve its goals. "As a nation, we have a very old tradition. When we start a campaign, when we take a road, or when we undertake a project, we tie our horse's tail. We do it to show that, no matter what happens, we will not turn back and we will go to the end," he explained.
