Erdoğan marks AKP's 25th anniversary: 'We are just getting started'

Turkish President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan marked the 25th anniversary of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) with a speech emphasizing the party's enduring legacy and future ambitions, declaring, "We are just getting started."

Erdoğan reflected on key accomplishments during his address, citing the party's role in ending the headscarf ban in universities, schools, and public institutions. He also pointed to significant economic developments, noting the daily production of 83,000 barrels of oil in Gabar, an area previously known for terrorism, and the utilization of domestic natural gas discovered in the Black Sea to supply millions of homes.

Expressing gratitude, Erdoğan extended his thanks to alliance partner Devlet Bahçeli and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) for their solidarity. He also thanked voters for their participation and support over the years, acknowledging those who may not have voted for the AKP but whose choices were respected. The president commemorated party members who have passed away, praying for God's mercy upon them. He underscored that the AKP was founded 25 years ago as a vessel of hope, built and shaped by the will of the nation.
