Erick Thohir Flags Off 8,000 Runners at BTN Jakarta International Marathon 2026

Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir launched the BTN Jakarta International Marathon (JAKIM) 2026 on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta. The annual event saw a significant turnout, with 8,000 runners competing in the full marathon (42.195 kilometers), making it one of Indonesia's largest marathon events.

The JAKIM 2026 also drew considerable international interest, with 1,012 foreign participants joining the race. Runners from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, and South Korea formed the largest groups of international competitors. The event further enhanced its competitive edge by inviting elite athletes, including Kenya's Truphena Chepchirchir, Ethiopia's Alemnesh Herpha, and Japan's Jane Mora and Kana Numata.

The Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, present at the event, praised JAKIM as part of Jakarta's 499th-anniversary celebrations and thanked PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) for its consistent support.

Several other officials attended the flag-off, including Fauzi Amro, Vice Chairman of Commission XI of the House of Representatives, and Nixon L.P. Napitupulu, President Director of BTN. The BTN Jakarta International Marathon is expected to encourage public participation in sports and bolster Jakarta's status as a sport tourism hub attracting global participants and visitors.
