Ernesto Laguardia to test himself on 'La casa de los Famosos México': 'You've never seen me like this'

Veteran actor Ernesto Laguardia, 66, is set to challenge his long-standing image as a "correct gentleman" of television by becoming the first confirmed contestant on "La casa de los Famosos México." For over five decades, Laguardia has cultivated a reputation associated with discipline, education, and family values.

Aware that reality shows can alter public perception of celebrities, Laguardia stated he will not enter the house with a strategy focused on conflict. Instead, he intends to be his authentic self, using his core values as his primary tool for navigating the competition. "Sometimes they say: 'My strategy is to annoy everyone,' but my strategy is to enter with education, with my values, with my limits. I know how to speak crudely, perhaps rudely, but I know where to draw the line... and never fight over food, which has happened terribly elsewhere," he told EL UNIVERSAL.

Laguardia believes the daily interactions within the house will help dismantle preconceived notions about his personality. He aims for viewers to discover various aspects of who he is, rather than hiding any part of himself. "I'm going to make friends, I'm going to meet people and the limits of Ernesto Laguardia. Many people say: 'He's very angry,' but they haven't seen me. I do have my character, and 54 years of career forge that character; not aggressive or angry, but it teaches you to set limits, to know how to discuss things and face them," he added.

The actor is not entirely new to the reality format, having previously hosted a similar show in the United States. However, he expressed excitement about switching roles. "You have to get to know it, you have to be inside. This is the most important program at the company. You have to be present at one of television's great events. What I was missing was being an inhabitant, because I had already hosted a program like that in Miami called 'Los Protagonistas'." The new season of "La casa de los Famosos México" premieres on July 26 on Las Estrellas, with 24/7 coverage available on ViX.
