Estonia's fastest sprinters face 100m vs. 200m dilemma

Estonia's two fastest sprinters, Ann Marii Kivikas and Henri Sai, find themselves in a similar predicament. While both athletes possess strengths that particularly shine in the 200-meter race, they harbor a strong desire to achieve excellent results in the shorter 100-meter sprint as well. As expected, both Kivikas and Sai secured victories in the 100-meter events at the national championships held at the Pärnu beach stadium. Henri Sai clocked a time of 10.40 seconds, finishing 0.08 seconds slower than his personal best. Ann Marii Kivikas won her race in 11.42 seconds, falling just 0.07 seconds short of her own national record. This situation presents a strategic challenge for the athletes and their coaches. While their natural talent and training may lend themselves more to the 200m, the prestige and potential for record-breaking in the 100m are undeniable.
