Estonian Parties Prioritize Elections Over Membership Recruitment

Estonian political parties are shifting their focus from membership drives to preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The past six months have seen a notable decline in party membership for some, while others are experiencing modest growth.

The Estonian Conservative People's Party (EKRE) has recorded the largest net loss of members, with 259 individuals leaving and only 91 joining. The Reform Party also experienced a significant number of departures. In contrast, the Centre Party saw 178 members leave and 101 join.

Only a few parties have managed to increase their membership numbers. Isamaa, the Conservative People's Party, and the Left Party (Vasakpartei) are among those that have gained members. The Left Party, in particular, saw a slight increase, with 17 new members joining while only 15 departed. Eesti 200, however, experienced a significant net loss, with 53 members leaving and only two joining.
