Estonian Player Priit Lokotar Crowned European Youth Draughts Champion

Estonian draughts player Priit Lokotar has been crowned the U19 European Youth Champion, achieving first place in a strong international field at the 26th European Youth Draughts Championship held in Tallinn.

Lokotar amassed 12 points over nine rounds, finishing at the top of the standings. He secured the title by utilizing tiebreaker advantages over Poland's Dominik Rubajd and Lithuania's Augustas Gainovskis, who also scored 12 points. The Estonian representative maintained a strong performance throughout the tournament, consistently remaining in medal contention.

Estonia's success at the championship was further highlighted by Kevin Kurik, who secured a bronze medal in the U13 mini-cadet tournament. Kurik earned 11 points from eight rounds to claim third place.

Overall, the event in Tallinn saw 216 young players from across Europe compete. For Estonia, hosting the championship proved successful, bringing home both a European championship title and a bronze medal.
