Estudiantes de La Plata advances in Copa Argentina after defeating Rosario Central

Estudiantes de La Plata secured their spot in the Copa Argentina round of 16 with a decisive 3-0 victory over Rosario Central. The match, held at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium in Córdoba, saw goals from Guido Carrillo, Thiago Palacios (penalty), and Mikel Amondarain. Rosario Central's Franco Ibarra was sent off with a red card.

This win marks Estudiantes as the tenth team to advance to the next stage, leaving six remaining spots to be filled. The tournament will pause for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the remaining matches scheduled to be played after the global event.

Several other clubs have also progressed in the Copa Argentina, including Gimnasia de La Plata, Banfield, Midland, Belgrano de Córdoba, Vélez, Atlético Tucumán, Platense, and Instituto de Córdoba. Two round of 16 matchups are already confirmed: Banfield against Club Atlético Defensores de Belgrano and Platense against Instituto de Córdoba.

Major clubs like River Plate, Boca Juniors, San Lorenzo, and Racing Club have had their round of 16 matches postponed. River Plate is set to face Aldosivi de Mar del Plata, while Boca Juniors will play Sarmiento de Junín, both after the World Cup. San Lorenzo's match against Deportivo Riestra and Racing Club's game against Defensa y Justicia were also rescheduled.
