Etihad Airways launches international summer program for Emirati airport trainees

Etihad Airways is launching its inaugural international summer deployment program for its highest-performing Emirati airport trainees, aiming to foster career growth within its global network. This initiative follows the foundation phase of the airline's Airports and Ground Operations Programmes, which provides hands-on experience at Zayed International Airport and classroom learning.

Trainees rotate through essential frontline functions such as check-in, boarding, and baggage operations before advancing to supervisory roles. They also gain insights into network operations and aircraft dispatch, developing a comprehensive understanding of airline and airport management. The program is a key component of Etihad's broader Emiratisation strategy, designed to create long-term career pathways for UAE Nationals.

Emirati talent is at the heart of Etihad's long-term growth strategy. Since launching our Emiratisation strategy last year, we have invested in programmes that combine world-class operational training with meaningful international exposure, giving flight to the ambitions of our Emirati talent and equipping them with the skills, confidence and global perspective to thrive.

An initial cohort of seven Emiratis will participate in the summer deployment, working at high-volume international stations including Copenhagen, Paris, Phuket, and Kuala Lumpur. They will apply their acquired skills in live operational settings alongside Etihad's international airport teams during the peak travel season. This experience is intended to equip them with the skills, confidence, and global perspective needed to thrive.

Dr. Nadia Bastaki, Etihad's Chief People, Government and Corporate Affairs Officer, emphasized that Emirati talent is central to the airline's growth strategy. She highlighted the investment in programs that combine operational training with international exposure to fulfill the ambitions of Emirati talent. Captain Majed Al Marzouqi, Chief Operations & Guest Officer, added that these programs prepare the next generation of Emirati professionals to deliver safe and efficient airport operations, with the young Emiratis serving as ambassadors for the UAE on the world stage.
