Etihad Rail: Sharjah announces route changes, diversion near Industrial Area 17 until Oct 5

Sharjah residents and motorists should anticipate traffic route changes starting Wednesday, August 26, as the Roads and Transport Authority undertakes roadworks for the Etihad Rail Station Access Roads Project. The changes primarily affect travel through University City and the Institutes Land area.

The authority will partially open a road connecting two key areas, offering two lanes in each direction. This reopened section will extend from Industrial Area 17, pass through University Bridge, and lead towards University City. Simultaneously, a partial road closure and diversion will be implemented for traffic heading from Industrial Area 17 towards Maliha Road.

Alternative routes will be provided for drivers navigating towards Sharjah English School, Nesto Hypermarket, and other local services. The RTA advises all drivers to adhere to the designated alternative routes, directional signs, and road safety instructions to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent delays.

This project is part of a broader initiative to enhance road infrastructure and alleviate traffic congestion within the emirate. These adjustments follow recent traffic restrictions, including a partial closure of a dual carriageway near Al Hazanah from August 23 to August 28, which was implemented for road maintenance and infrastructure development.
