Etimesgut Mayor detained in corruption probe; municipality vows services continue

Etimesgut Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu has been detained along with 52 other individuals as part of a broad investigation into alleged corruption within the municipality. The probe reportedly focuses on irregularities in public tenders, the creation of fraudulent documents, and illicit gains from parking lot rentals and construction permits.

Today, unfortunately, we are seeing one of the operations carried out in many municipalities won by the CHP also in our municipality. We are following the process, we do not have clear information yet. We are in communication with our legal unit and our lawyers.

Following the detentions, Deputy Mayor Ebru Keyvan addressed the situation, stating that municipal services are continuing uninterrupted. She emphasized that the municipality is in constant communication with its legal department and lawyers, assuring the public that they are closely monitoring the unfolding investigation.

Keyvan voiced support for Mayor Beşikçioğlu, characterizing the operation as part of a pattern seen in other municipalities won by the CHP party. "We are following the process, we do not have clear information yet," she stated, adding, "We are at our posts. We stand behind our mayor." She expressed hope that the situation would eventually lead to clarity and a positive outcome.
