European media focus on Fenerbahçe-Beşiktaş derby, with Skriniar and Vlahović in the spotlight

Beşiktaş’s 2-1 comeback victory over Fenerbahçe drew wide attention from the European sports press, which focused on both the goals and the confrontation between Dušan Vlahović and Milan Škriniar.

Marca said Vlahović completed Beşiktaş’s comeback after Škriniar had put Fenerbahçe ahead. Rıdvan Yılmaz quickly equalized for Beşiktaş, assisted by Leandro Trossard, before Vlahović scored again in the second half. The Serbian striker had also scored a hat-trick in the previous match and found the net for a second consecutive game.

La Gazzetta dello Sport likened the Istanbul derby to an Italian derby, pointing to the former Inter defender Škriniar and former Juventus player Vlahović as two of the match’s central figures. Both scored, but Vlahović’s goal secured the away win. The paper also highlighted the argument in which the two players came face to face and exchanged insults, including in Italian, before Vlahović made a rude gesture toward Škriniar after they separated.

Tuttomercatoweb emphasized Vlahović’s decisive contribution and reported that Vincenzo Italiano’s Beşiktaş moved to nine points, second in the table. The team stood one point behind Galatasaray, although not all teams had completed their fourth-round matches.

Corriere dello Sport also focused on the tense incident. It reported that the dispute began after a midfield challenge early in the second half, when Vlahović accused Škriniar of possibly handling the ball. Another familiar name from Italian football, Guendouzi, was partly involved in the incident. Shortly afterward, Vlahović scored the goal that won the match for Beşiktaş.
