European Parliament VP criticizes PSD for 'fleeing governance' amid Romania's crises

Bucharest – In a sharp critique, Nicu Ștefănuță, a Vice-President of the European Parliament, has condemned the Social Democratic Party (PSD) for its decision to withdraw political support from Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. Ștefănuță, an independent MEP, asserted that Romania is currently grappling with five significant crises that demand immediate attention and solutions from its leaders.

Speaking via social media, Ștefănuță detailed the critical challenges facing the nation. These include an escalating crisis in prices and energy costs that impacts all sectors, the palpable threat of a global financial downturn, a pressing deadline for accessing European funds, escalating security concerns necessitating military reinforcement, and a profound social crisis leaving vulnerable citizens and small businesses struggling. He emphasized that the populace is actively awaiting responses to these multifaceted problems.

The MEP’s remarks come as the PSD, through an online vote, decided to pull its political backing from Prime Minister Bolojan, with a significant majority of its members supporting the move.
