Reflecting on past years, particularly the 2025 contest held in Basel, Switzerland, the contrast is stark. As a Swiss observer, I recall having multiple "favorites" – from the sublime Zjerm by Albania's Shkodra Elektronike to the dark, cold-wave melodies of Lithuania's Katarsis, and the unique German duo Abor & Tynna. Even lighter, more whimsical entries like Estonia's Tommy Cash or Malta's Miriana Conte added a certain charm. This year, however, the musical landscape feels disappointingly tepid, failing to ignite the same passion or create lasting impressions.
