Everyone Wants a Console Before November: PS5 Pro Sells Out

The coming release of Grand Theft Auto 6 has sent players searching for Sony’s premium console. PS5 Pro units have disappeared from major US retailers, and some resale listings have reached more than $1,300.

The console will turn two in November, the same month Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated title is scheduled to arrive. GTA 6 will be released on Nov. 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Sony has presented the PS5 Pro as the best-suited console for Rockstar’s flagship production, helping drive interest in the more expensive model.

Demand has also grown in Poland, where Google Trends has recorded sharp increases in searches for both PS5 and GTA 6 in recent weeks. In the United States, Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target and the official PlayStation Direct store were all out of stock on Wednesday evening. The shortage has continued for nearly a week.

The resale market has responded quickly. Offers on platforms such as X have reached $1,300, while Polish classifieds have featured several-year-old consoles priced as high as 5,000 zlotys. That matches the price of a new PS5 Pro in Poland. Best Buy reportedly has limited numbers of display units in damaged packaging, and GameStop offers used consoles, although availability varies by region.

The PS5 Pro price rose from $699 to $899 in March 2026. That is substantially more than the PS5 Slim, which cost $649, and the digital edition. Videos showing an early version of GTA 6 circulated online during the summer, but interest in the leaks declined after a late-August presentation of the game’s capabilities, shown on Netflix and YouTube, renewed attention to the title and the console.
