Ex-Coach Riera Calls Eintracht Boss 'Coward' in Instagram Tirade

Former Eintracht Frankfurt coach Albert Riera has launched a scathing attack on board member Axel Hellmann, accusing him of being a "coward" and a "nobody" in a public Instagram spat.

The dispute erupted after Hellmann told the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" that Riera was not prepared to engage with the Bundesliga, the club, or its environment. Riera, responding via an Instagram story, directly challenged Hellmann, writing, "I will not mention your name, because you are a nobody, unknown and have done nothing. I still don't know why the club pays you money."

Riera further criticized the club's leadership during his time there, stating in grammatically unconventional English, "Cowards talk afterwards and behind the back." He described Eintracht as being like a "ghost" during his tenure, with "no president, no directors or anyone else there." He asserted that "only" he and sporting director Markus Krösche were present, fighting for the club "from morning to night."

Riera took over Eintracht in February after the departure of Dino Toppmöller but failed to secure qualification for the Europa League.
