Ex-ORF Director Weißmann to fight publication of chat logs

Former ORF General Director Roland Weißmann is pursuing further legal action against the publication of chat logs by the weekly newspaper 'Falter'. His legal team plans to appeal a recent decision by the Higher Regional Court of Vienna (OLG) that permits the newspaper to publish all originally distributed passages of the chats.

The OLG's ruling contradicts an earlier decision by the Commercial Court of Vienna. The lower court had initially issued a preliminary injunction, prohibiting 'Falter' from publishing certain chat excerpts in three out of eighteen points. Weißmann and his lawyer, Oliver Scherbaum, have been vocal about their opposition to the dissemination of these communications.

This legal battle centers on the extent to which private communications, even those involving public figures, can be published by the media. The decision by the Higher Regional Court allows 'Falter' to proceed with publishing the content, a move that Weißmann is determined to challenge further.
