Ex-Yesh Atid MK Elazar Stern joins Eisenkot's Yashar, after announcing resignation from Knesset

Former minister and Knesset Member Maj.-Gen. (res.) Elazar Stern has joined Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar party, the party announced on Monday. Stern's move follows his earlier announcement of resignation from the Yesh Atid party.

In a statement, Eisenkot welcomed Stern, emphasizing his significant contributions. "Elazar dedicated decades to Israel's security and public service and has extensive experience as a minister, member of the Knesset, and IDF major-general," Eisenkot said. He also noted Stern's consistent advocacy for universal service, the people's army model, and statesmanship, as well as his efforts to unite different segments of Israeli society from a Jewish, democratic, and Zionist perspective.

Stern had been a member of Yesh Atid since 2015. His decision to leave the party and now join Yashar marks a shift in his political alignment. He had initially indicated he would resign from the Knesset entirely, but his new affiliation with Yashar suggests continued political engagement.
