Excavator Operator Dies in Trench Collapse at Denizli Construction Site

A tragic incident occurred in Denizli, Turkey, where a construction worker lost his life after a trench collapsed around him. The accident took place on Tuesday afternoon at the construction site of a basketball development center in the Bereketler neighborhood of the Merkezefendi district.

The victim, identified as excavator operator Kudret Erdoğan, was working on excavation tasks. He had exited his machinery to take measurements when the soil gave way, causing a collapse that trapped him beneath the earth.

Colleagues who witnessed the event immediately alerted emergency services. Responders from AFAD, fire departments, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

Despite the swift response and efforts by the rescue teams to extract Erdoğan from the debris, he was pronounced dead at the site. His body was subsequently transported to the Denizli Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
