Exercise Bougainville 2026 officially opens in Fiji

Exercise Bougainville 2026 officially opened today at the Officers’ Mess at Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua, marking the beginning of a significant national initiative. The launch ceremony was attended by government officials, defense partners, various agencies, and Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) officers, underscoring the collaborative nature of the exercise.

These include the increasing frequency and intensity of natural disasters, the growing threat of cyberattacks, persistent cross-border crime, maritime security concerns, and the ever-present risk of public health emergencies. He stressed that effectively addressing these multifaceted challenges hinges on robust cooperation, clear communication channels, and seamless information sharing among all relevant agencies.
