Exit polls show Adilet party winning 72% in Kazakhstan's first Kurultai election

Kazakhstan's Adilet party is poised for a dominant victory in the nation's inaugural Kurultai election, with three separate exit polls projecting the party to secure around 72% of the vote. The results, released late on August 24, indicate that Adilet will likely command a significant majority in the newly formed 145-member unicameral Parliament.

Beyond Adilet's projected success, the exit polls also suggest that four other parties have narrowly cleared the 5% electoral threshold required for representation. These parties include the Auyl People’s Democratic Patriotic Party, Respublica, the Aq Jol Democratic Party, and the Nationwide Social Democratic Party (NSDP). The People’s Party of Kazakhstan and the Baytaq Green Party appear to have fallen short of the threshold in all three surveys.

The election marks a significant shift as it is the first parliamentary vote held under Kazakhstan's new constitutional system, which took effect on July 1. The Kurultai replaces the former bicameral Parliament, with all seats allocated proportionally through party lists in a single nationwide constituency. Voter turnout was reported at a robust 74.19% as polling stations closed.
