Expat Loses KD 500 After Shopping on Untrusted Website

An Arab expatriate in Kuwait has fallen victim to online fraud, losing 500 Kuwaiti dinars after attempting to make a small purchase on an untrusted website. The incident, which began with an attempted 20 dinar transaction, resulted in five separate withdrawals from his bank account.

The expatriate reportedly entered his bank details to complete the purchase, only to receive a notification that the payment had been declined. He later discovered the significant sum had been withdrawn without his authorization.

The Jahra Security Directorate has now referred the case to the Cybercrime Investigation Department. Investigators are working to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for the fraudulent transactions. The source of the theft is believed to be the untrusted website the expatriate accessed.

In response to the incident, a security source issued a warning to all citizens and residents. They emphasized the importance of verifying the credibility of online stores and exercising caution before entering any financial information to prevent similar occurrences.
