Experts to investigate pen found secretly recording at Social Democrats' council meeting

Lithuanian authorities are launching an expert examination of a pen that secretly records audio, discovered during a Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP) council meeting. The investigation is proceeding under a criminal code article concerning the illegal installation or use of technical equipment for information gathering.

Prosecutors confirmed that the pre-trial investigation is ongoing, with investigators collecting and evaluating data relevant to the case. As of now, no one has been formally suspected. The Vilnius Regional Prosecutor's Office is handling the investigation based on a statement filed by the LSDP regarding the discovery of the recording device at their party council meeting.

The LSDP has pointed fingers at a journalist from the Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT), Eglė Samoškaitė, as a potential owner of the pen.
