Explosion in Croatian Home Injures Three, Causes Severe Damage

A powerful explosion ripped through a family home in Vodena Draga, within the Bosiljevo municipality, on Monday evening, leaving three individuals injured and causing extensive material damage. The blast, which occurred around 5:45 p.m., is believed to have been caused by an explosive device that was activated by a 20-year-old man, who sustained the most severe injuries.

Emergency services, including medical teams and police, responded swiftly to the scene. One of the injured young men, described as being in his early twenties, required immediate transport via helicopter to the Clinical Hospital Dubrava in Zagreb due to the critical nature of his injuries. The other two injured individuals are his father and brother.

The force of the explosion was significant, resulting in the destruction of a large portion of the ground floor of the house. Walls collapsed, and debris, including building materials and furniture, was scattered across the surrounding area. Vehicles parked nearby also sustained damage, with windshields shattered by the blast's impact.

While the exact nature of the explosive device remains under investigation, initial unconfirmed reports suggest it could have been a hand grenade or a similar explosive. Residents of neighboring homes reported being startled by the powerful detonation, which was felt throughout the settlement. Authorities are conducting a criminal investigation to determine the precise cause of the explosion.
