The six MPs, Sanjay Dina Patil, Sanjay Deshmukh, Sanjay Jadhav, Bhausaheb Wakchaure, Nagesh Patil Ashtikar, and Omprakash Raje Nimbalkar, had previously skipped a Sena (UBT) parliamentary party meeting, fueling speculation about their impending move. Their defection increases the Shinde faction's Lok Sabha strength from 7 to 13 MPs.

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik noted that the MPs were impressed by the work of Eknath Shinde and his son, MP Shrikant Shinde.
