Explosive device found near Ashkelon playground, suspect arrested

The US President's Board of Peace (BoP) declared that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) should not have a role in Gaza's future. The BoP posted on X, "We are turning the page on the complex of perpetual aid dependency and conflict. The people of Gaza deserve better."

In parallel, Israel's Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) announced a pilot program to streamline security screening for Gaza residents returning to the Strip via the Rafah Crossing. The screening procedures have been moved to the Kerem Shalom Crossing and are now managed by the Land Crossings Authority within Israel's Defense Ministry, a move COGAT stated will improve operations.

Meanwhile, the IDF and Shin Bet reported the joint killing of a Hamas platoon commander, Adel Jihad Mohammad Asfour, in the Gaza Strip. The military stated that Asfour had led multiple sniper and explosive attacks against IDF soldiers and was involved in rebuilding Hamas's military capabilities. He was killed in an IAF airstrike after posing a threat to soldiers.
