Explosives Found in Tamazula, Durango, After Anonymous Tip

An anonymous tip led authorities in Tamazula, Durango, to a significant discovery of explosives and materials used for their construction. State police, in coordination with the Mexican Army, National Guard, and municipal police, secured the area after receiving the information.

The discovery was made in the locality of La Rosita, within the municipal jurisdiction of El Durazno. Upon arrival, officers found numerous "bombs" scattered on the ground. Members of the Interinstitutional Operations Base, comprising defense forces, the National Guard, state police, and municipal police, were dispatched to the remote location.

Reaching the site required a foot patrol through rugged terrain. The improvised explosive devices were found along the edge of a dirt road, alongside various materials intended for their assembly. The Secretariat of Security in Durango reported that the area was cordoned off, and specialized personnel were called in for the safe handling and control of the explosives.

Among the seized items were 42 plastic tubes filled with Emulex explosive agent, commonly used in mining, and five improvised galvanized pipe explosive devices. Additionally, two burlap sacks contained more plastic tubes with Emulex, and a plastic box held approximately 30 more galvanized pipe devices. Six cardboard boxes containing an unknown quantity of explosives and various other materials for their manufacture were also found.
