Expo 2027 Awards €33.2 Million Contract for Electric Buses and Fast Chargers

Belgrade is taking a significant stride towards a greener public transportation system with the awarding of a substantial contract for electric buses and charging infrastructure. The €33.2 million deal, secured by a consortium of companies including Chariot Motors AD, DAT Holding DOO, and Higer Bus Company Limited, signals a commitment to modernizing the city's transit capabilities.

The procurement specifically includes 50 low-floor electric city buses equipped with advanced supercapacitor technology for energy storage. These vehicles will feature rapid charging capabilities at terminals via pantographs and additional charging at depots. This investment is not just about the immediate needs of the Expo 2027 event but also about the long-term vision for sustainable urban mobility.

Following the conclusion of the Expo 2027 exhibition, these state-of-the-art electric buses will be handed over to the Belgrade Public Transport Company (GSP). Following the Expo 2027 (specialized exhibition), all purchased buses will be handed over to the Belgrade Public Transport Company (GSP) and will continue to operate as part of the city’s public transport system.
