Argentina's Air Force (FAA) marked its 114th anniversary with a spectacular display of F-16 fighter jets soaring over Buenos Aires. The event, designed to engage the public, featured the advanced aircraft flying from north to south across the capital city.

The F-16s initiated their route in the northern part of the city, passing over the Estadio Monumental of River Plate in Núñez before heading towards Costanera Norte and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery. The Air Force invited citizens to designated viewing points, encouraging them to capture the moment and "hear the engines roar."

The aerial procession concluded with the jets flying over the iconic Obelisco in the city center. This flyover is part of a series of celebrations commemorating the FAA's 114 years, with a main ceremony scheduled for Monday at the Morón Air Base. While this central event is not expected to be open to the public, a demonstration of the F-16s is anticipated.

Argentina is in the process of acquiring 24 F-16 fighter jets from Denmark, a deal described as the most significant military aviation acquisition since 1983. Six of these modernized aircraft, equipped with advanced technology, are already in the country. The second batch of six F-16s is expected to arrive in September, ahead of schedule. The primary operational base for these jets is currently Río Cuarto, Córdoba, with plans to relocate to the VI Air Brigade in Tandil for a more strategic defense position once the program is fully established.
