F1 season finale could move to Europe if Qatar, Abu Dhabi races are disrupted

Formula 1's season finale might shift to Europe if geopolitical tensions disrupt the planned races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, according to F1 president Stefano Domenicali. The sport's calendar is subject to change if the Middle East situation does not improve.

Domenicali indicated that a definitive decision would be made by mid-September. "For us today, the races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi are confirmed," he said, adding, "But of course, if the situation is not cleared the way that we believe it should be, before the middle of September, we will take the decision."

He confirmed that if the Middle East races are canceled, the season would conclude in Europe, though specific locations were not disclosed. Formula 1 has already canceled races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia this season due to safety concerns related to regional conflicts, with the Bahrain Grand Prix rescheduled for Malaysia.

Domenicali also addressed the 2027 schedule, stating that while plans are proceeding normally, options exist if the Middle East situation remains unresolved. The sport aims to maintain 24 Grand Prix races annually.
