Factory owner suffers burns trying to extinguish blaze

A factory owner in Butterworth sustained first-degree burns to his neck and hands while attempting to extinguish a fire at his premises on Jalan Bagan Ajam.

The fire, which broke out yesterday afternoon, also destroyed two motorcycles, a three-ton lorry, and a forklift that were present at the factory.

The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call around 6:09 p.m. and dispatched a team from the Butterworth Fire and Rescue Station. The firefighting efforts were supported by several other stations and volunteer fire brigades, as well as a private company's excavator.
