Failed Stunt: Motorcyclist Crashes After Attempting Wheelie in Traffic

A motorcyclist in Taichung, Taiwan, learned a harsh lesson about showing off when a "wheelie" stunt went disastrously wrong. The incident occurred at an intersection on Jianguo Road around 9:20 PM on July 28th.

As the traffic light turned green, multiple motorcycles began to move forward. However, one rider suddenly accelerated and pulled the front of his bike into the air, attempting a "wheelie" in the middle of the traffic.

The stunt lasted less than two seconds. The rider lost control of the motorcycle, likely due to an improper balance of throttle and body weight, causing the bike to flip backward and crash onto the road. Other riders quickly slowed down to avoid the fallen motorcyclist and his bike.

Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the accident, and no secondary collisions occurred. Police reviewed the surveillance footage and stated that the rider's actions may violate Article 43, Paragraph 1, Item 1 of the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act, which prohibits dangerous driving. This offense carries a fine ranging from $6,000 to $36,000 NTD.

Authorities reminded the public that roads are not for stunts and that such reckless behavior can lead to injury, financial penalties, or even tragic consequences. They encouraged citizens to report similar violations with video evidence.
