Fakrul Afizul Smashes Own 400m Hurdles National Record

Muhammad Fakrul Afizul Nasir of Malaysia has shattered his own national record in the men's 400-meter hurdles, clocking an impressive 50.72 seconds. This remarkable achievement secured him the gold medal at the Varsity Track & Field (VTF) 2 event held at the Sultan Zainal Abidin University Stadium in Terengganu.

The previous national record of 51.11 seconds was also held by Fakrul, set during the 2024 Malaysian Games (Sukma) in Kuching, Sarawak. His latest performance not only broke his personal best but also surpassed the championship record of 52.77 seconds, which had been set earlier in the day by his teammate, Muhammad Aiman Najmi Mohd Anuar, during the semi-finals.

Fakrul, a student at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), expressed his gratitude for the win and the new record. Aiman Najmi, also from UPM, took silver with a time of 51.49 seconds, while Muhammad Adib Irfan Azizan from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) secured the bronze with 52.82 seconds.
