Families hold mass cremations for missing Rasuwa flood victims

Families who no longer expect to find relatives missing in the Rasuwa floods have begun performing final rites for them.

They created funeral effigies from kaas-kush, a sacred grass, and brought them to Pashupati Aryaghat in Kathmandu. On Wednesday, dozens of the effigies were cremated together in a mass funeral.

The ceremonies followed Hindu traditions and were carried out by the families and relatives of those still missing. A large crowd gathered at the cremation site as the grieving families completed the rituals in memory of their loved ones.
