Families spend thousands on prenatal tests, but doctors warn they cannot guarantee a healthy baby

Prenatal testing is becoming a growing and profitable business for some companies. Marili, a 33-year-old Estonian woman, paid 300 euros for a genetic test at a public hospital during each of her pregnancies because she wanted greater reassurance.

Geneticists warn, however, that screening can create a false sense of security. No screening test can guarantee that a child will be born healthy.
