Family announces funeral arrangements for late journalist Dotun Oladipo

The family of veteran journalist and publisher Dotun Oladipo has announced the schedule for his funeral rites, set to take place on September 10 and 11. Mr. Oladipo, who was the publisher of The Eagle Online, passed away in Lagos on Tuesday at the age of 56.

According to a statement from the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), a service of songs will be held on Thursday, September 10, at Daystar Church in Oregun, Ikeja. The following day, Friday, September 11, his burial service will take place at the same venue, followed by his interment.

Dotun played an important role in the development of GOCOP. He led the Guild for four years at a time when there was still a lot of work to be done to establish online publishers as an important part of the media. His contribution will always be remembered.

Mr. Oladipo served as the president of GOCOP from 2017 to 2021. He was instrumental in the organization's early development, with GOCOP President Danlami Nmodu highlighting his significant contributions to the growth of online publishing in Nigeria. Nmodu stated that Oladipo led the Guild during a critical period, working to establish online publishers as a vital part of the media landscape.

Nmodu further noted that Mr. Oladipo brought extensive experience from his journalism and publishing career to his leadership role within GOCOP. He was passionate about the role of online media in Nigeria and dedicated his time to the Guild's advancement. His passing has prompted numerous tributes from media organizations, colleagues, and associates who recognize his impact on journalism and the Nigerian online publishing industry.
