Family of 19-year-old killed in crash seeks witnesses

The family of a 19-year-old woman who died in a tragic car accident in the Vilnius region is appealing for anyone who witnessed the event to come forward. The woman's father posted on Facebook, asking for information to help understand what happened.

"Time cannot be turned back and people cannot be brought back, but we want to understand as much as possible what and why it happened. Therefore, we kindly ask everyone who saw the accident or was nearby to contact us via Messenger," he wrote.

The accident occurred on Thursday when a truck overturned into a ditch after colliding with the woman's BMW. The driver, born in 2007, was initially conscious but succumbed to her injuries in the ambulance around 4:15 PM. Other drivers involved in the crash were unharmed.

According to the driver of the garbage truck, he attempted to brake and swerve before the collision but could not avoid it. He told "tv3.lt" that the young woman had "jumped out of the column of cars" and directly into his path. Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident, and a preliminary investigation has been initiated for causing a death in a traffic accident.
