Family of ex-policeman's wife protests at North Sumatra Police HQ, demands exhumation

Dozens of relatives of Winda Lorenza Gowasa protested outside the North Sumatra Police Headquarters on Thursday, demanding an exhumation of her body. Winda was found dead with a firearm in the bathroom of her former husband, police Brigadier Imansyah Harefa.

We ask that an exhumation be carried out on the body of Winda Lorenza Gowasa. We have also submitted a request letter signed by Winda's parents.

Paul Junisu Jethro Tambunan, the family's lawyer, stated the protest aimed to pressure the police into conducting an exhumation to establish the definitive cause of death. The family submitted a formal request, signed by Winda's parents, emphasizing their need for clarity.

The family also urged the North Sumatra Police to handle the case transparently, citing a lack of significant progress in the investigation since August 5. They are awaiting updates from the Medan Police.

Tambunan questioned the police investigation's timeline, noting that 25 days have passed since the family learned of Winda's death. He highlighted the discrepancy of the case being elevated to an investigation stage on August 5 if it were a clear suicide. The family seeks to definitively test the cause of death through exhumation, as they remain uncertain whether it was murder or suicide.
