Family of five rescued from Taichung apartment fire

A fire erupted early on July 7 in a four-story residential building in Taichung City's Dali District, trapping a family of five on their second-floor balcony. Thick smoke rapidly spread through the stairwell shortly after 5:18 a.m., preventing the family from escaping their home.

Firefighters arrived promptly and immediately began rescue operations, using ladders to reach the trapped individuals. The family members were visibly anxious, peering down at the rescue efforts. After the fire was brought under control, firefighters assisted the five residents to safety, averting a potential tragedy.

Three members of the family, a 39-year-old mother and her 9-year-old daughter, along with a 10-year-old son, were taken to Dali Renai Hospital for treatment of minor smoke inhalation. The other two individuals did not require medical attention at the scene. The fire department reported that the blaze, which originated in a back room on the first floor, was controlled by 5:37 a.m. and extinguished by 5:47 a.m. The cause of the fire and the extent of property damage are currently under investigation.
