Family of four among five killed after car rams into water tanker near Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore

A tragic accident on the Udumalaipettai - Pollachi National Highway near Coimbatore, India, resulted in the deaths of five people, including a family of four. Their speeding car collided with a water tanker lorry that was stationary on the highway median.

The impact of the high-speed collision was severe, completely crushing the car and leading to the immediate death of all five occupants. The victims included two men and three women.

Four of the deceased have been identified as members of the same family from Gurubampalayam in Coimbatore district: Kanagaraj, his wife Narmada, and their two daughters, Aarthi and Poorani. The identity of the fifth victim is still being determined.

Authorities from the Gomangalam police station have sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the precise sequence of events that led to the fatal crash.
