Family planning services in Majalengka exceed targets amid high public enthusiasm

The Majalengka Regency has witnessed an enthusiastic public response to its Family Planning (KB) services, specifically Female Sterilization (MOW) and Male Sterilization (MOP), with participation numbers significantly exceeding initial targets. The event, organized in observance of the 33rd National Family Day, took place at the KIAS Clinic of Kodim 0617/Majalengka on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Gun Gun Mochamad Dharmadi, Head of the Majalengka Regency's Department of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning (DP3AKB), explained that the initiative was a collaboration with BKKBN Jabar. He noted that the number of registered participants far surpassed the organizing committee's initial calculations. The target for MOW and MOP services was set at 250 individuals, but the actual number of participants surged to 300.

The significant increase was particularly evident in the MOW group, where participation exceeded the target by over 230 women. Encouragingly, male participation in MOP also surpassed the initial quota of 26 individuals. Majalengka Regent Eman Suherman expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation for the community's extraordinary enthusiasm. "We were initially a bit pessimistic, perhaps thinking public participation in MOW would be rare. But it turned out to be extraordinary, overwhelming. Our quota was even exceeded. And even more impressively, besides MOW, there were also many MOP participants among men," Eman stated.

Eman highlighted that the family planning program has undergone a positive paradigm shift within the community. Previously, family planning might have been perceived as government-imposed, but now, public awareness has grown independently. This increased participation has had a tangible impact on population control, successfully keeping the population growth rate in Majalengka Regency below one percent, currently standing at 0.77 percent.
