This move followed reports that he had received millions of pounds in gifts from political supporters without registering them, as required by British law, according to previous media accounts.

Formal investigations into Farage's gifts were reportedly initiated in May after reports surfaced that he had received five million pounds from billionaire Christopher Harborne, who resides in Thailand. Farage maintained that the gift was personal and not political support. The investigation also aimed to verify accusations of illegal financial support from financier George Cottrell.
