Farewell to the World Cup: Zócalo Fan Fest decorations dismantled after hosting over 100,000 fans

Just one day after the final match of the 2026 World Cup, workers have started dismantling the decorations for the Fan Fest held in Mexico City's Zócalo. The vibrant displays, which included figures inspired by Mexican toys, were set up in the heart of the city to celebrate the tournament.

The Secretariat of Government of Mexico City announced the conclusion of the Fan Fest activities on Sunday. The event drew an estimated 110,000 fans to watch the final game, which saw Spain emerge victorious over Argentina. This marked the end of the festivities that had captivated the city for 39 days.

Throughout the entire World Cup, the Zócalo Fan Fest site welcomed a cumulative attendance of nearly 2 million people. Visitors participated in various broadcasts and activities held in this emblematic public space. The dismantling process began on Monday morning, with figures like a pink drum and a colorful balero being among the first to be taken down.
