Fatal accident circumstances emerge in Kalvarija: BMW crashes into tree, child was in car

A tragic accident in Lithuania's Kalvarija municipality has resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries. The incident occurred on June 27 around 8:40 PM when a BMW, driven by a woman born in 1994, veered off the road and collided with a tree.

Emergency services, including firefighters, responded to a report of an overturned vehicle possibly containing injured individuals, including a child. Upon arrival, rescuers found the BMW in a ditch, having struck a tree. Paramedics provided assistance at the scene, where one passenger was found without vital signs and pronounced dead.

Another passenger, born in 1990, was freed from the rear of the car unconscious and taken to the hospital. The driver, also born in 1994, and a child born in 2017, were conscious and transported to a medical facility for treatment.

Authorities have since disconnected the car's battery, extracted the vehicle from the ditch, and cleaned the roadway. The circumstances leading to the crash are under investigation.
