Fatal Collision on E403 Highway as Moving Van Hits Traffic Jam

A fatal accident occurred on the E403 highway near Ardooie, Belgium, when a moving van collided with a queue of vehicles, resulting in one death. The highway is completely closed in the direction of Kortrijk, with traffic being diverted at exit and entry ramp 8 Roeselare-Beveren.

The collision involved three cars and a moving van equipped with a moving lift. The driver of the moving van reportedly failed to notice or reacted too late to the traffic jam forming ahead. The van crashed into a car in front of it, occupied by an elderly couple. The man in that car did not survive, while his wife sustained serious injuries. The moving van overturned, but its driver suffered only minor injuries. Two other cars were also involved in the accident, and their drivers sustained minor injuries as well.

The E403 remains closed to traffic in this section, and police are directing vehicles off at exit 8 Roeselare-Beveren. The accident highlights the dangers of distracted or inattentive driving, especially in situations where traffic flow changes unexpectedly.
