Fatal Highway Crash in Indramayu Claims 13 Lives, Leaves Several Injured

A devastating accident on the Pantura highway in Indramayu, West Java, has claimed at least 13 lives and left several others injured. The collision, which occurred Sunday afternoon, involved a pickup truck carrying passengers and two larger trucks.

Victims were taken to two separate hospitals in Indramayu Regency: RS Bhayangkara in Losarang and RS Mitra Plumbon in Widasari. Initial reports indicate that three people died at the scene, while the remaining fatalities occurred during treatment. The injured, many of whom are minors, are also receiving care at RS Mitra Plumbon.

According to AKP Undang Syarif, Head of the Indramayu Police Traffic Unit, the accident involved a pickup truck, a wing box truck, and a Hino truck. The pickup truck, carrying 17 passengers returning from a wedding, was attempting a U-turn when it was hit by the wing box truck. Subsequently, it was struck by the oncoming Hino truck.

Traffic police from Indramayu Polres and the West Java Regional Police Directorate are conducting a thorough investigation using the Traffic Analysis Accident (TAA) method to determine the precise chronology and cause of the crash. The investigation aims to provide a clear understanding of how this tragic event unfolded.
